Girls Aloud Covering “Womanizer”

5:03 pm by Kat with 0 Comments

Girls Aloud have decided not to perform their complete back catalogue on their upcoming tour, reports claim.

The group will allegedly focus predominantly on material from their chart-topper Out Of Control and perform a singles medley of their previous tracks.

According to leaked information, the five piece will perform ten tracks from their recent LP, including ‘Rolling Back The Rivers Of Time’, ‘Love Is The Key’, ‘Turn To Stone’, ‘Miss You Bow Wow’ and ‘Fix Me Up’.

Tangled Up singles ‘Call The Shots’ and ‘Sexy! No No No’ will reportedly be performed in full, while ‘Can’t Speak French’ will be included in the medley alongside tracks including ‘Jump’ and ‘The Show’.

The band are set to open and close the ‘Out Of Control’ live dates with a performance of ‘The Promise’ and will perform new single ‘Untouchable’ attached to wires. They will also cover Britney Spears’s ‘Womanizer’, according to The Sun.

Girls Aloud kick off their live dates in Manchester on Friday. ‘Untouchable’ is released on April 27.

Lutfi Tones Down Restraining Order

4:43 pm by Kat with 0 Comments

“Oops…he did it again.

Britney Spears’ former manager/sidekick Osama “Sam” Lutfi has filed an amended lawsuit against the pop princess, toning down the rhetoric from his original complaint but still making the same basic accusations, chief among them that mother Lynne Spears slandered him, father Jamie Spears assaulted him and that the “Toxic” singer still owes him money for services rendered.

Acting on behalf of his daughter’s conservatorship, Jamie Spears obtained a temporary restraining order against Lutfi back in January to keep him out of her life.

On Feb. 3, Lutfi fired back with a lawsuit that included salacious allegations about her parents leeching off Britney.

That led to Team Spears to file a petition asking the court to toss out the first seven pages of Lutfi’s complaint, claiming the blistering charges were really a “calculated attempt to exploit the court system” to make public assertions that have “no factual or legal moorings.”

Among the finer details in dispute: “Every aspect of [Britney's] life and more importantly, her fortune, has been controlled by her parents” and that the parents were losing control of their daughter, which “posed a serious threat to Jamie and Lynne” and their supposedly lavish lifestyles.

Such language was excised from the updated filing last Thursday, according to Lutfi lawyer Bryan Freedman, to “clarify” his client’s accusations against the popster.

“We think the amended complaint sets forth our claim in a more clear fashion,” Freedman tells E! News. “There were certain allegations that we wanted to clean up. “We felt [the language] provided some real background but we removed it…as far as the legal claims we’re seeking, it was irrelevant.”

Jamie Spears’ attorney, Joel Boxer, could not be reached for comment.

While all this plays out, a judge could decide as soon as tomorrow to make permanent the restraining order against Lutfi and attorney John Eardley—a ruling which Freedman said he will appeal should they come out on the wrong side.

Freedman also expressed a desire to bring Spears in from her Circus tour to explain why, if Lutfi was such a nuisance, she didn’t file her own restraining order against Lutfi before her father took control of her affairs.

“I think if she testified we’d at least understand the truth whether she suffered substantial emotional distress from Sam or whether she was reaching out and Sam helped her,” the attorney added.

The Spears estate recently obtained a permanent restraining order against Britney former paparazzo paramour Adnan Ghalib, which will remain in place for three years.”

Sam needs to just shut up.
Let’s go kick his ass, shall we?

Tour Reviews – Los Angeles, California

9:48 am by Kat with 0 Comments

Reviews aren’t looking up today. Here’s one from variety.com:

“There were no untoward outbursts during Britney Spears’ Staples Center appearance Thursday night, but her Circus tour is so perverse and filled with such troubling, passive-aggressive imagery, you can’t help but walk out wondering if her therapist (or parole officer) has seen this.

She’s not the first female performer to use a circus as a metaphor (Madonna, Janet Jackson and Christina Aguilera beat her to it), but Spears’ version of the greatest show on earth is easily the most malign. Divided into four acts and an encore, the 90-minute spectacle, filled with dancers, tumblers, clowns and quite a bit of pyrotechnics, amounts to little more than a revenge fantasy against anyone who has wronged her — a list, one imagines, to be quite long.

For a start, Perez Hilton, who has long antagonized Spears, shows up here as an impotent queen introducing the star, only to be shot for his troubles. “There are two kinds of people in the world,” she sings in the show’s title song (and opening number), “the ones that entertain and the ones that observe.”

Spears leaves no doubt who is who, as the song’s chorus demands, “All eyes on me in the center of the ring/when I crack the whip, everyone’s gon’ trip.” But she ends up in a cage, rolled around the stage, singing, “You want a piece of me,” which, in this context, come off as less barroom braggadocio than a fact of her life.

For the rest of the evening, Britney is either the seductress or the put-upon. She wants to be the center of attention but doesn’t want anyone to look at her. A magician makes her disappear while she orgasmically coos “baby, baby, baby”; she is tossed into a Victorian-styled asylum for “Freakshow”; she’s a member of a harem for the Bollywood remix of “Me Against the Music”; and she cavorts in a surreal orgy while mouthing Marilyn Manson’s cover of “Sweet Dreams.” A short video presents clips of her various videos and makeovers; they go by so quickly, and are so wildly varied, it looks less like a career and more like a parade of “alters” from “The United States of Britney.”

Not even sex provides solace. “Get Naked” and “If You Seek Amy” are raunchy demands, but more often than not, she’s pushing men away, whether they’re fans, lovers or paparazzi. In one of the evening’s recurring themes, they’re slapped, pushed away or conked on the head by a mallet. She may call one of her dancers for a booty call during the intro of “Freakshow,” but the recipient is led to his fate like a prisoner walking his last mile. You soon find out why, as once he arrives for their assignation, he find himself harassed by clowns.

Given the star’s conflicted relationship with fame, her uninspired performance may just be part of the plot. With the exception of “Everytime,” a truncated ballad, she mimes to recorded vocals. Her dancing mostly consists of stamping her feet and flailing her arms (a favorite move is pounding her chest and flinging her arms out, a feckless display of dismissive power) while her troupe of dancers (which includes members of Big Apple Circus, who had a half-hour set immediately before Spears) surrounds her with Fosse-styled tableaux.

Given how little performing is involved, the Circus tour is not much more than a highly staged (tech credits are first rate) set of personal appearances, only without her having to sign autographs or come into direct contact with her fans. Given the antipathy on display, that probably suits Spears just fine.”

Socialite Nicole Richie is a “huge fan” of Britney Spears and expressed her love for the pop star on a recent blog she posted after attending Britney’s concert in Los Angeles.
