May 16 Lutfi Drops Restraining Order Appeal
Britney Spears’ ex-manager dropped his appeal of a judge’s ruling that he must stay away from the singer until 2012, according to his appellate court attorney.
Osama “Sam” Lutfi instead will concentrate on his civil suit against the pop star and her parents, which is currently under a separate appeal, said attorney Joseph D. Schleimer.
In April 2009, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Aviva K. Bobb directed Lutfi and attorney Jon Eardley to stay at least 100 yards from the pop star, her two young sons and her homes.
Bobb’s ruling extended until April 28, 2012, a temporary order she issued against both men in January 2009. Bobb has since retired from the bench.
Lawyers for Lutfi filed papers shortly thereafter with the 2nd District Court of Appeal. They maintained during the hearings before Bobb that the three-year stay-away order was too harsh a measure and there was no evidence Lutfi had caused the pop star substantial emotional distress as alleged by lawyers for her father, Jamie Spears.

Spears’ father maintained Lutfi and Eardley have tried to undermine the conservatorship established by Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz in early 2008 after the singer exhibited behavior that resulted in her hospitalization at UCLA Medical Center.
Lutfi sued Spears and her parents in February 2008, alleging he was defamed in passages of a book written by the singer’s mother, Lynne Spears.
Lynne Spears is appealing a judge’s ruling last August which denied her motion to have the case against her dismissed on grounds it infringed on her right to free speech.
In the appeal, Lynne Spears’ lawyers maintain Lutfi is “libel-proof” because his reputation allegedly was already so low before her book was published that the contents could not have damaged his image further.

May 16 Britney Spotted At Phil Maloof’s Party
EDIT: britneyspears.com called out the E! source article on their BS Alert, but, apparently, there were pictures of her at the party so I’m not sure which part of the article they’re claiming is untrue. It may be the part about the guy she went with, but nobody is completely sure. Just putting that out there.
Britney Spears made a rare social appearance Saturday night at Phil Maloof’s birthday party at Drai’s Hollywood.
Britney arrived around 9 p.m. with a handsome, dark-haired guy who was NOT her on-again-off-again boyfriend and former agent Jason Trawick. She spent most of the time on a couch chatting with Maloof, a longtime friend and part owner of Palms Casino in Vegas.
The identity of the gentleman who was with her is unknown but he may have been a bodyguard.
“She stayed for about an hour and had fun,” says a party source, who didn’t witness anything romantic between Britney and her mystery male. “She didn’t mention Jason.”
Also at the party (but arriving separately): her father, Jamie.
The VIP bash, held in Victor Drai’s private lounge on the first floor, was sponsored by Maloof’s new Black Star Beer, but our sources say Britney didn’t have any.
“She was mellow but in a good mood,” says a source. “She never would drink in front of her dad.”

May 12 Britney Ends Professional Relationship With Jason
Britney Spears and Jason Trawick have decided to go their separate ways, at least professionally. Trawick will no longer serve as Spears’ agent, but the two confirm that all is fine and dandy in their personal relationship.
The pair “have decided to end their professional relationship and focus on their personal relationship,” a Spears rep told People.com.
And while they continue to dodge rumors of their engagement, a source close to the couple added, “They are very happy. Things are really good with them.”
Fans, however, might be happier to hear that Spears is hard at work on a follow-up to her 2008 release, Circus. “Since wrapping her recent world tour, Spears has been busy in the studio working on her next album,” her rep said. While there had been rumors that the album could be released sometime this summer, the fact that she is still working on it means that fans may have to wait a little longer. While details are scant about the new record, buzz about the album has been floating around the Web for quite some time now.
Several names are attached as possible contributors to what will be the singer’s seventh studio album. David Guetta is involved, according to Idolator, as well as frequent Britney hitmaker Max Martin, Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins and Sean Garrett.
Spears recently had fans salivating over her leaked demo of Lady Gaga’s “Telephone.” The song’s producer, Darkchild, spoke about the work he’s doing with the pop star on the album. “We talked about the direction of her album, [manager Larry Rudolph] gave me some insight into the direction, and he wants me to work on stuff for the album,” he said. The producer went on to assert that he’s very focused on the pop singer, and he’s determined to “write an international smash for her new album.
“I think the fans deserve it, I think Britney deserves it and I can’t wait to get back into the studio with Britney. I’m about to go crazy on making something that’s so crazy. Since I’ve had that conversation with Larry Rudolph, I’ve studied some stuff from her last album and the Blackout album, and that was great stuff, but I think I’m going to bring something a little bit greater. I’m gonna give it my all to deliver something that’s crazy, crazy amazing for Britney.”

May 10 Britney Goes Shopping
Enjoying a day-beginning retail romp, Britney Spears made her way over to Robertson Blvd. in Los Angeles, California on Monday (May 10)..
The “Gimme More” singer looked in quite the playful mood, making faces as she did a little shopping – trying on oversized shirts along with accessories.
After finding a fresh new outfit to wear, Brit Brit made her way over to the local gay bar ‘The Abbey’ for a lunch break.
On Mother’s Day, Miss Spears spent the day without her boys, Jayden James and Sean Preston, who were sent to Disneyland with a bodyguard and a nanny – though she did enjoy a karate class outing with the youngsters the previous day.

May 10 Britney With Her Karate Kids
Ever the doting mother, Britney Spears was spotted taking her boys to their Karate class on Saturday afternoon (May 8).
The “Toxic” songstress escorted Jayden James and Sean Preston to a Studio City dojo with the help of her nanny and an assistant.
And it was a fun-filled weekend for the Spears boys, who were treated to an exciting day at Disneyland yesterday (May 9).
Jayden and Sean were taken around the amusement park by their nanny, a bodyguard, and a Disney tour guide while mama Britney avoided the paparazzi.

Last night what people thought may be Britney’s telephone number leaked. If you find this number, DO NOT call or text it. It is NOT Britney’s number, and the poor girl has been getting tons of calls and texts from people thinking she’s Britney.

Matty M. is said to have taken a shot at Britney Spears when he was asked the other day what he tought about Glee doing an all-Britney episode like they did with Madonna. “That’s a rumor [Spears'] manager started,” Morrison told Us Weekly. “I hope our show doesn’t go along that route.”
A rep for Morrison assures me that the actor is not anti-Britney. “He just doesn’t think they should do one episode with all Britney music,” the rep said.
Obviously, there are those who disagree. About 7,700 people have now registered as fans on the recently launched “In Support of Glee Making a Britney Spears Episode” page on Facebook.
